Multi activity tour of Croatian rivers and countryside
8 days/7 nights Huck Finn Adventure Travel program 2009

This multi-activity adventure trip will take you along some of the most beautiful rivers in Croatia as well as through Plitvice Lakes National Park. On foot, by bike and from your kayak, you will see some of the best preserved countryside to be found anywhere in Europe. At every opportunity, our guides will steer you away from civilization ensuring a truly memorable experience which we are sure will stay with you for many years.

The accommodation is a friendly, family-run hotel on the bank of the Mreznica River, approximately one hour drive from Zagreb airports. The restaurant overlooks an old mill near a small waterfall. It serves freshly caught fish, as well as home-grown vegetables. Barbecues are also a specialty of the house and make for a convivial end to the days activities. Rooms are all equipped with an en-suite bathroom, TV, mini bar and telephone.

ITINERARY
	Day 1 Sat: Transfer from either Zagreb or Rijeka airport to your hotel in the village of Zvecaj, located by the river, deep in the countryside. After settling in to your room and perhaps walking by the river meet the other members of the group over dinner.
	Day 2 Sun: The day starts with kayak/canoe instruction after which you will set off upstream to begin the trip along a section of the Mreznica River. The Mreznica is a typical ‘karst’ river with numerous travertine waterfalls interspersed with calm, clear water – perfect for a cooling swim. After a light picnic on the bank, paddle back to the hotel for riverside barbecue that evening.
	Day 3 Mon: An expedition down the Mreznica River, with opportunity for lots of swimming. This is the most beautiful part of the river, where the water temperature in summer can reach 25 degreesCelsius. You will travel down deep, narrow canyons and many waterfalls - up to 8 meters high.
	Day 4 Tue: Venture into Plitvice Lakes National Park for a hiking tour of the 16 lakes and hundreds of waterfalls this World Heritage Site has to offer. Follow the narrow tracks closed to traffic leading through forest, meadows, hills and along the shores of the lake. We consider this to be one of the most beautiful areas in Europe.
	Day 5 Wed: Take a bike tour along the winding roads to take in the countryside and explore the surrounding villages..
	Day 6 Thu: Enjoy Rafting on nearby Dobra River which offers the white water rafting in Croatia. (During periods of low water levels, rafts may be exchanged for Kayaks).
	Day 7 Fri: A day to be spent at leisure - relax by the river or take an optional bicycle tour to other places of interest in the area – or a train ride to Zagreb, the cultural and political centre and capital City of Croatia.
	Day 8 Sat: Depart Zvecaj Village for the airport and flight home.

This itinerary is subject to change dependent on group abilities and preferences, weather, water levels and special events. Huck Finn Guides and Trip Leaders will do their utmost to ensure the best possible experience for their clients without compromising safety at any time. This may mean changing the original itinerary to avoid discomfort or risk which could be caused by exceptional heat or cold, stormy weather, heavy traffic or similar conditions.
