Novalja is a small town and port in the bay of the same name, situated at the south-western coast of the island of Pag. The town includes the former hamlets Sveti Ante (St. Anthony) and Spital. Chief occupations include farming, viniculture, livestock breeding, fishing and tourism.
The pier in the port provides shelter to smaller vessels; there is a 98-m long embankment made of rocks. Larger vessels can anchor at the entrance into the port off the north-eastern coast, and smaller vessels and yachts in the centre of the port, at a depth between 5 and 8 m.
Novalja Beaches :
Beaches in Novalja are situated along the coast in a row, a rare phenomenon on the Adriatic coast, and the “Straško” camp beach is certainly among the most beautiful ones.
- Beach Zrće in Novalja
The beach is surrounded by woods, through which many paths lead to the beach itself, and there is a parking lot in front of the beach area.
The beach has various facilities such as life- saving equipment, life-guards, first aid, facilities for the disabled, catering facilities, rental facilities, phones, recycable waste facilities, showers, source of drinking water, canoes, paddle boats, windsurfing boards, motorboats and speedboats etc.
The beach is known as the party beach of Croatia. There are three beach clubs, Aquarius, Kalypso and Papaya, which are open around the clock during summer.
Zrce is a long, stretched, white pebbled beach with crystal clear sea. The beach has numerous facilities and three popular open-air clubs offering entertainment until wee-wee hours. Aquarius and Papaya are outfits from Zagreb's popular clubs, and there is also beach-bar Kalypso.
Aquarius is superbly equipped, it has places to eat, drink and dance, aerobics, homemade ice cream and also a fun pool! Often there are theme parties, bubble parties, live concerts, resident and international DJ's playing hippiest house music.
Papaya is arranged in exotic style and it offers bar, restaurant, VIP area, pool, water slide, jacuzzi, after beach parties, cocktail parties, foam parties and dancing all night. Varied music styles are played by resident and international DJ's.
Kalypso is a beach sport bar offering sand volley, darts, badminton, then cocktails, Internet access, fast food, but also all kinds of other fun events including Miss and Mister competition and of course good music until morning.
- The beach Straško in Novalja:
The beach in textile part is covered with pebbles and 700 m long, while the sea bottom sandy.
One part of the beach has been covered by sand, ideal for small children. The beach has sanitary facilities, indoor and outdoor showers, changing cabins, facilities for the disabled, catering facilities, first- aid and life- saving equipment and lifeguards.
The beach has Blue Flag. The beach on the naturist side is rocky and arranged with platforms, surrounded by oak forest perfect for the escape from the heat of the midday sun.
- Caska beach
Is situated eastern from Novalja, on the place of the late roman city which is , by the legend, destroyed in the earthquacke in the 4th century and whose ruinings can be found near Caska beach in the bottom of the sea.
Enterance to the sea is sandy and the sea bottom is going very fast deeper which gives a depth of the sea to this beach. On the beach You can get refreshments and there are some enterteiment possibilities.

Planjka (Trinćel)
Beach is situated northwest from Novalja, by the east seaside of place called Old Novalja. The beach is covered with fine sand, it is warm and shallow and arrenged perfectly.
It has great refreshment services and many different sport and recreation. Since summer 2004. it is proud owner of the Blue Flag.
Vrtić Beach
is town beach in Novalja, situated at the southern rim of Novalja bay. It is warm and sunny gravel beach with a green belt – the perfect place for rest and refreshment during hot summer days.
Babe beach :
Beach lays in a shallow bay west of Novalja. This is the shallowest and warmest of all Novalja beaches with fine sand and narrow coast. This beach can be reached by foot only and it has no catering or sport and recreation activities.

Novalja - History and Cultural Heritage:
From the Roman times parts of the aqueduct, several inscriptions and architectural plastic forms have been preserved. In the early Christian times there was a large basilica urbana in the centre of the town, with a semicircular apse and mosaics (remains of architecture, plastic forms, inscriptions). In 1971 two decorated reliquaries were found there: a bronze one from the 4th century and a silver one, from a later period. On the same place the church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gothic style was erected, annexed in the Baroque period, which holds the painting of Our Lady with Childfrom the 16th century. The present parish church of St. Catherine was built in 1906.
