Baška is a town and port on the south-eastern coast of the island of Krk, located in the northern part of Baška Draga. Fertile tracts of land in the Baška Draga valley, through which runs the Suha Ričina (Big Dry River) or Vela Rika (Big River), have enabled farming (wheat), fishing, viniculture, as well as making and selling of wine, which in turn, has given rise to maritime and shipbuilding industries.
Next to the old, compact part of the town, a new part with tourist facilities has been built, making Baška a well-known tourist destination. The main road (M2) connects Baska to the town of Krk (19 km).

History and Cultural Heritage in Baska :
In Mala luka (Little Harbor) above the ancient settlement of Bosar are the ruins of a fortified town and church from the early Byzantine period. On the hill surrounding the cemetery and the original parish church of St. John (originally early Romanesque, around 1100, with a bell tower on the front façade), ruins of the mediaeval Baska can be seen, burned by the Venetians in 1380. The three-nave parish church of the Holy Trinity was built in 1722. The church has preserved early Romanesque capitals, the painting Our Lady with Saints from the late 15th century (Marco Marziale), The Last Supper (Palma the Younger), as well as wooden and stone sculptures (15th-18th c.).
Baška has a town museum. In the surrounding areas are the small Romanesque churches (Holy Spirit, St. Mark, St. Euphermia, St. George) and St. Michael with a square Gothic sanctuary added in 1506 by the priest Bartol Papic (Glagolitic inscription). In the church of St. Mary on Gorica are the paintings by Celestin Medovic. In nearby (1 km) Jurandvor are the ruins of the Benedictine abbey with the preserved early Romanesque church of St. Lucy (around 1100), in which the capital monument of Croatian culture was found - the Baška Tablet.
