Tisno is a small town on the eastern coast of the island of Murter, partly spreading on the mainland (the Tisnjanski Peninsula), 29 km northwest of Sibenik. It developed on the mainland and the island, on the narrowest part of the Murter Channel in the Straits of Murter (38 m), with a bridge spanning over it. Tisno has a population of 1500.
The drawbridge connecting the island of Murter with the mainland, situated in the centre of Tisno, is open during the tourist season every day from 9 to 9:30 a.m. and from 5 to 5:30 p.m.
Chief occupations include farming, wine production, olive growing, fishing and tourism. The average air temperature in January reaches 6.9 °C and in July 24.7 °C.
Tisno is situated on the regional road connecting the main road with the island of Murter.
There you can find a post office, bank, pharmacy, grocery shop, produce market, daily fresh fish market, ice-cream parlors, bakeries and more to serve your needs and make your holiday more pleasant.

Tisno - Beaches :
the beaches are situated outside of town (1-2km); in the direction of Jezera along the boardwalk, the beach is rock with a part with terraces. This beach is known as Lovisce.
Another popular beach to visit is Jazine which is located east of the center of the town.
On the other side, in the direction of Betina, there's an very nice gravel beach.
In the nearby town of Murter, the beach is mostly with terraces and one little part with gravels. Cruising around the island with boat, in the southern side is possible to reach a peaceful bays where isn't possible come by road.

Traditional events in Tisno during the summer holidays are “Tisno summer” and the traditional pilgrimages to the sanctum of the Madonna of Karavaj (on 26 May).

An interesting event is the traditional Donkey Race that takes place every summer.
Miscellaneous entertainment events take place in Tisno each summer, ranging from a variety of concerts of classic and traditional music at the local church, to sport competitions at the local square Rudina.
Special treats are the concerts of traditional Dalmatian music as well as concerts of the local brass band KUD "Hartic".
The end of summer season is also tagged with a special event – the “Fishermen's party”; when the local square is full of traditional food, sea scents, domestic wine and traditional romantic sounds.

The remain of an ancient Christian basilicum from the 6th century and villa rustica from the 11th century were discovered near the Chapel of St. Martin (11th-12th century) only three kilometers from Tisno.
There are ¨boat excursions organized from Tisno to the National Park Kornati. Excursions are also organized to the National Park Krka.
Tisno is well connected to the nearby cities of Sibenik and Zadar with bus lines. Also, Tisno is located some 40km from Zemunik airport.
