Pirovac – a small but very beautiful and vivid village located at the farthest west of the county of Sibenik. Pirovac is, along with Primosten, Vodice and Murter, the most important tourist centre of the Sibenik riviera. The population of Pirovac is approximately 1500 inhabitants.

Pirovac is a lively, very beautiful small town with many natural endowments. Beautiful coves, Sitnica, Vrulje, Makirina and Vrilo with their pebbly beaches and clear sea are very charming and a special attraction is the islet of Sustipanac, situated right in front of Pirovac, where you can relax and enjoy swimming and sun tanning. In cove Makirina sites of peloid mud were found. This mud is very curative.

Pirovac Bay, this natural phenomenon, cut 10 km deep into the rocks, enclosed in Mediterranean vegetation of enchanting smell, mingled with the original smell of the sea and agreeable tide that makes the sea in this bay 3-4° warmer during summer than the average temperature of the Adriatic Sea in that time of the year.

Lolic beach has been awarded with the International Blue Flag for its cleanliness and quality according to set international standards and regulations.
Pirovac Bay has many beautiful coves, sandy beaches and at the western entrance, the island of Sv. Stjepan, called Sustipanac, that still preserves the remnants of the old convent and small church given to the Franciscans – Tertiaries, Glagolitic monks by powerful landowner Petar Draganic from
Pirovac in 1511.
Southern side of Pirovac Bay, MAKIRINA, is a natural swimming beach with curative peloid mud. In its composition, quality and quantity that site with curative mud exceeds all known sites in Croatia. Its medicinal application is a basis for a real tourist boom. It is a peloid mud site with the area of 414.800 m3.
Within the hotel complex, there are also suites at your disposal, as separate buildings, and a campsite with the capacity of 600 lots with all accompanying facilities.

Pirovac - History :
Pirovac - this small town was first mentioned in the year 1298.
The settlement was founded in the 15th ct. by the refugees who fled from the Turks.
The defence wall was erected around 1505 by and has been partly preserved in the village. Other inhetresting historical monuments to see include:
-The parish church of St. George from 1506
-The graveyard chapel of the Draganic-Vrancic family

Roman artefacts have also been found on the islet of Sveti Stjepan (St. Stephen) (Sustipanac) in front of the village. Here you can also find the -ruins of a Franciscan monastery (from 1511), which was abandoned in 1807.
Pirovac - Cultural Heritage :
The most valuable remnants:
- defensive walls that surrounded Pirovac from all four sides, built at the beginning of the 16th
- town gates with a bascule bridge
- the parish church of Gospa Karmelska built in the late 1506
- a chapel at the old Pirovac graveyard from the 15th century
- St. Juraj church.

Pirivac - Bike trails :
From the centre of Pirovac, the trail takes you towards Stankovci where you will have several possibilities:
After 4 km, if you turn to the left on the gravel road through olive-groves and vineyards, after only 4,5 km you will come close to the Vransko Lake. At the crossroads you can choose between two directions:
-the left one takes you to Prosika (3 km) and then 2 km along the Adriatic Highway, where you have to ride particularly carefully, back to Pirovac.
-if you take the road to the right which is longer you can come to Vrana (19 km) or Banjevci (5 km).
-if you take a road to Kasic from Pirovac (7 km) and ride through the place on a tarmac road to the crossroads (2 km) where you turn to the left, you will reach the lake from the north side through an interesting canyon.
-if you take a road to Banjevci from Pirovac (9 km) and ride through this place to Donji Bakovici (3 km) where the road ascends to the belvedere "Kamenjarka" (2 km), you can enjoy the view of the Vransko Lake and of Kornati Islands in front of you.
Pirovac - Gastronomy :
Pirovac welcomes its visitors with its enchanting and traditional promenade by the sea. There are many traditional restaurants, cafes, pizzerias, and souvenir shops located along the riva for your enjoyment, entertainment, and relaxation. Sit in one of the local restaurants or cafes and enjoy the enchanting sunset that can only be seen on the Adriatic coast.

During the months of July and August Pirovac invites you to enjoy in its enriched and traditional tourist events. Every evening is filled with an enjoyable program, such as : Fishermen nights where you can taste the traditional and autochtonous cuisine, concerts with Dalmatian spiritual music performed by "klape", the famous donkey races, soccer tournament, singing contest, the Seafood feast etc.

Pirovac is very close to two National Parks – “Kornati” and “Krka” and it is only 5 kilometres away from the Park of Nature “Vransko jezero”, which is very suitable for recreational fishing. Daily boat excursions are organized.
Via the Adriatic Highway Pirovac is connected with cultural and historical centres, such as Sibenik, Zadar, Trogir and Split. Thanks to the Adriatic Highway, renovated and partly reconstructed in 1997, Pirovac is well connected with Sibenik (22 km), and Zadar (48 km).
