The island of Pag is one of the biggest and longest Adriatic islands. It‘s located in the Central part of the Adriatic or theNorthen Dalmatia region. It is located a50km from Zadar to the north-west. The island is connected to the mainland with a 350 m long bridge.
Island Pag - with 270 km of coastline it is on of the longest islands on the Adriatic. It is rich with bays, inlets, coves, beaches, and capes. Pag is well known for its differential landscape. It is the largest rocky ground on the Adriatic. Pag is a natural biological reservation with many fields of aromatic herbs. It is famous for its handmade lace and delicious cheese.
Pag is an island with a charming landscape and that is why it is an ideal place for disparate types of holiday. Here you can enjoy swimming, rock-climbing, diving, windsurfing, sailing or cycling across the land of hundreads of kilometers of low stonewalls on the rocky fields.
The town of Pag is located in the central area of the island. In front of the town is a 20 km long (coastline) Bay of Pag with mostly sandy beaches. On the island (and nearby town) there are a lot of disparate beaches, beautiful lagoons and wild inlets. One of them belongs to the most attractive on the Adriatic, the Zrće beach in the village of Novalja (West side).
Pag - Beaches :
The main beach of the town Pag is the Prosika beach. It is a dynamic, sandy, long and very attractive beach close to the town center. It is a beach with a full-service, water equipment, games, caffes, sports fields. Around the town we can reccommend some lagoons in the quietness of countryside. Rocky beaches are only on the west side of the island.
Pag - Historical Heritages :
In the town of Pag you can visit some of historical heritages: The Church of the Holy Mary from the 15th century, the Duke‘s Palace from the 15th century, the Town´s Tower from the 15th century, or some work of art from the greatest croatian renaissance artist Juraj Dalmatinac.
Pag - Gastronomy :
Pag is a town with a diverse range of entertainment. It is possible to taste the famous Pag cheese in nearly every restaurant. In the town center there are a lot of caffes, souvenire shops, and jewellers stores.
You can spend your evening dancing at one of the many live-music dance terraces or night clubs.
Old traditions from Pag are also well known in our country: folk dances and costumes, the winter carnival (since the 60´s summer carnival is mostly inteuded for tourists at June). The most famous event is "Pag Slave girl“ perfomance of historical traditions.
